V series vertical turning centers

The Giddings & Lewis V Series is a line of vertical turning centers capable of handling pumps, valves, gears, bearings, compressors, wheel hubs, and jet engine housings. All six models include hydrostatic rams that add rigidity for heavy cutting and produce less friction for improved part finish. The infinitely adjustable cross rail is a programmable positioning axis that minimizes ram extension. Dual-scale feedback delivers precision and ensures parallelism while the hydraulic cylinder elevation adds 1,000kN (225,000 lb) of mechanical clamping force per side.

The VLock tooling system provides a stiff interface for modular tooling adaptors, long cutting tools, and an optional heavy-duty right angle milling attachment. Modular turning tools more than double the taper stiffness at loads up to 1,800Nm. Standard modular tools are lighter, easier, safer, and offer significant savings compared to proprietary vertical lathe tooling offered on most vertical lathes.

Coating for roughing steel and cast and hardened alloys

Alox SN2 for indexable and carbide tooling is TiAln-based and extends tool life for applications including turning, threading, and milling. Used for roughing steel and hardened alloys including castings, the supernitride coating also provides high oxidation resistance.
