While made for graphite work, the VM1 Graphite
machining center cuts plastics and light metals
using spindle speeds up to 30,000 rpm. Its travels measure
26x14x18 in., and the spindle cooled with a
refrigerated liquid accepts 30-taper tooling from
the machines swing-arm ATC. Metal telescoping way
covers with a positive airflow minimize
dust contamination.
The companys UltiMax control provides expanded
memory and network software for large
CAM-generated programs common with graphite
work. Contouring rates up to 600 ipm are also possible
with the control.
