Walter has introduced the new T12XX boring bars, which accept the full line of the new TS thread turning indexable inserts with the latest grades and geometry options. Various inserts clamping systems are available, including top clamp (T1221), screw clamp (T1222), lever clamp (T1223) and Capto options for multi-tasking machines (T1051). The boring bars feature Walter’s signature precision-guided through-coolant channels to maximize productivity and process security with reliable chip evacuation.

The indexable inserts are available in both precision sintered and ground configurations. The standard insert with ground geometry exerts low cutting forces and is suitable for universal applications in all workpiece material groups. The sintered insert has effective narrow (F5) and more open (M5) chip breaker geometry options.

The inserts geometries are also available in two- and three-tooth configurations for threading steel and stainless steel (ISO P and M material groups). The multi-tooth designs are ideal for mass production with 40% fewer in-feeds to significantly shorten cycle times.

The inserts are made of the latest WMP22G and WMP32G Tiger-tec Gold grades to maximize productivity and tool life, substantially reducing costs. The four insert sizes of TS09, TS11, TS16, and TS22 ensure a wide coverage range for threading various bore diameters. The sizes range from the TS09 for tools where Dmin equals 0.394" (10mm) up to the TS22 insert size for tools where Dmin equals 0.945" (24mm).

The applications for the internal threading tools include a wide selection of production systems. Full-profile threads and partial-profile threads are available in various options, such as UN-American, ISO-metric, Whitworth, BSPT, NPT/NPTF, RD, TR, BUTT and ACME, etc.
