Monaghan Tooling Group provides Vergnano P-Series powdered metal (PM) taps as a cost-effective alternative to solid carbide in a wide range of tapping applications. Manufactured through a sintering process, PM taps feature a fine-grained, uniform structure that provides higher hardness than conventional HSS while maintaining greater toughness than carbide. This balance allows them to perform well in harder materials – up to 45 HRC – while also handling interrupted cuts and less rigid setups where carbide may be prone to failure.

In performance testing of 1/2"-13 high-performance taps, PM tools were typically 30% to 50% less expensive than comparable carbide taps. With similar tool life in many applications, this translates into a lower cost per part, particularly in high-volume or variable-condition environments.

Vergnano P-Series taps are available in cutting and forming styles, covering sizes from 1mm to 40mm (0.0393" to 1.5748") with thread forms including M, MF, UNC, UNF, and G.

To assist with application selection, Vergnano offers TAppFinder, an online tool that helps users identify optimal tap designs based on material, hole type, and tolerance requirements. Custom tap solutions are also available.

Centrally located in Dayton, Ohio, Monaghan Tooling Group offers turnkey solutions by partnering with industry-leading tooling manufacturers to address the challenges of high-performance cutting.
