Ceratizit will showcase its versatile and durable WTX-UNI universal drill range along with the company’s MaxiMill – S-Power and reimagined MonsterMill ISO-S range of milling cutters for machining cast iron and nickel-based or titanium alloys, respectively, at SOUTHTEC 2025 in booth #1614 October 21-23 at the Greenville Convention Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The tooling featured at SOUTHTEC along with Ceratizit’s full portfolio of tooling solutions demonstrate the company’s continued commitment to provide manufacturers the most advanced cutting technology available for efficient and precise machining.
Now available in inch assortment, Ceratizit’s powerful and versatile WTX-UNI drill range offers manufacturers an entirely new geometry with patented features. WTX-UNI provides long tool life and reliable precision drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron and hardened steels and reduces downtime associated with tool changeovers.
The WTX-UNI tools are the first solid carbide drilling tools made from CT-GS20Y, Ceratizit’s most sustainable upGRADE carbide to date. They deliver a significant performance increase, better cutting data and longer tool life compared to their predecessors. Ceratizit upGRADE is reprocessed tungsten carbide powder that features the highest material recycling rate in its class. Between 50 and 99% of the powder is reprocessed with advanced metallurgical technology using 100% renewable energy.
The WTX-UNI features two guide lands and is available in diameters suited for applications ranging from fine-detail work to more robust drilling. It supports hole depths of 3xD and 5xD, with or without through-coolant options, and is offered in HA, HB, and HE shank variants. The patented end geometry with convex main cutting edge and a point angle of 140° ensures high tool stability combined with excellent self-centering. With its modern DPA74S coating and an expanding flute design, chips are evacuated without obstruction and reduce the risk of chip jams or tool breakage.
Furthering their value as a universal, cost-effective tooling solution, WTX-UNI drills can be reground to their original geometries and the original coating reapplied.
MaxiMill – S-Power milling cutters are optimized for machining cast iron, where shops often encounter heavy tool wear, extreme burr formation and breakouts on workpiece edges. A high tooth count – 12 teeth with Ø63 mm – and double-sided indexable inserts provide a cutting system with optimal performance in a highly stable, low-vibration platform.
The milling cutters’ double-sided indexable inserts boast eight cutting edges made from premium substrates with Ceratizit’s Dragonskin coating to ensure high performance with a smooth cutting action. The sturdy construction with robust insert seat and double wedge clamp guarantees a secure hold and high axial and radial run-out accuracy.
MaxiMill – S-Power complements existing face milling systems from CERATIZIT and is ideal for cast iron components made from GJS, GJV and GJL. The range of indexable inserts includes ISO P/K with cutting edge geometry M and offers corner radii of 0.4mm, 0.8mm and 1.2mm. The grades include CTPK220, CTCP230 and ceramic.
For machining Inconel, Hastelloy, Waspaloy and other nickel-based alloys, Ceratizit has added a new six-edge cutter to its MonsterMill ISO-S range. The new cutter joins the series’ proven four- and five-edge cutters that blend a balanced combination of carbide, coating and geometry that provides consistently smooth cutting action in difficult-to-machine alloys.
Nickel-based alloys have low thermal conductivity, which heats the tool instead of dispersing into the material. To control heat accumulation during cutting, Ceratizit engineered the six-edge MonsterMill geometry for improved chip evacuation and reduced thermal generation.
The irregular pitch of the cutting edges and a variable helix angle of the MonsterMill ISO-S minimize vibrations, which significantly increases the tool's machining performance and helps prevent tool breakage. Those features also improve workpiece surface quality and reduce the need for further secondary processes. The cutter’s DPX22S Dragonskin coating was developed specifically for use on nickel-based alloys and provides high thermal stability and outstanding wear resistance thanks to its special layer structure.
