Mega Chuck

A newly-designed series of chucks offering unmatched balance and precision during high speed drilling and milling operations up to 40,000 RPM will be introduced by BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. at IMTS 2004, September 8-15, in Chicago's McCormick Place, Booth E-2005. Each Mega Chuck comes standard with the BIG-PLUS dual contact spindle system to assure the highest rigidity possible in high speed and high metal removal machining operations. BIG-PLUS allows interchangeability with existing tool holders and machine spindles. The exclusive notch free design of the Mega Chuck Nut eliminates tool vibration at high speeds and reduces whistling noise and splattering coolant. The design also strengthens the nut itself. The Mega Wrench provides firm tightening through a one way clutch system with roller bearings, easily tightening or loosening the nut. "High speed and high performance machining operations demand total tool balance and concentricity at the cutting edge. The Mega Chuck Series offers the industry's highest levels of rigidity, gripping force and run-out accuracy to help users achieve better surface finishes, superior precision, and extend tool life," explained Jack Burley, BIG Kaiser Vice President, Engineering. Four different chucks with a clamping range of .010" to 1.500" allow improved machining techniques for higher finish and accuracies with increased production: Mega Micro Chuck - features a micro diameter design as small as .394", ideal for high speed applications in tight areas with small diameter cutting tools. It has three collet series that cover a range of 0.018" to 0.236", with collets available in steps of .004" to guarantee run-out accuracy of .00004" at collet face. Mega New Baby Chuck - six different size collet series provide ultra precision for high speed machining with carbide drills, taps, reamers and endmills. Offered in all popular styles of shank types, such as CAT, BT, or HSK and can hold a range of cutting tools from 0.010 to 0.787". Mega E Chuck - collet chuck designed exclusively for endmilling up to ?" provides powerful gripping force by means of a shallow taper collet with minimal range to achieve concentricity. Coolant can be fed to the cutting tool's periphery through slits in the collet. The chuck's body design enhances rigidity, preventing chatter and deflection. Mega Double Power Chuck - features a dual or "double" contacting nut with simultaneous contact between the tool holder body and nut to ensure superior rigidity with a work range of 0.625" to 1.500". Expanded contact diameter of the nut eliminates open spaces to provide the highest rigidity, as if one solid piece. Mega Chucks are micro-mirror ground finished on all surfaces to assure perfect concentricity for high speed machining. Drive keyways are machined after heat treatment. Chucks are then balanced with a high-precision dynamic balancing machine.
