Production and manufacturing plants are constantly being called upon to produce more complicated designs for machined parts, so they need tools for producing these parts that offer even higher levels of precision and efficiency. The Kyocera Ceratip Ultra Hurricane Endmills and Facemills(MEC Tool Series) unique insert design offers excellent wall finish with high squareness (true 90 degree corners) that assists in meeting these requirements. The MEC can withstand heavier cuts and lowers cutting forces while allowing for increased feed rates. The maximum rpm is indicated on the body of the mill for the safety and convenience of the user. A silver coating and larger chip pocket radius protect the tool for added life. With all of these features Kyocera is aiming to provide users with the wide variety of cutting processes they demand, while also shortening work times, increasing productivity, and reducing overall costs. Currently, Kyocera offers fourteen endmills with cutting diameters from 5/8 to 11/2 inch and shank sizes from ½ to 1¼ inch. There are also five shellmills with cutting diameters from 1½ to 4 inches. There are six insert radii, 0.016, 0.031, 0.047, 0.063, 0.079, and 0.122 inch available in cast iron and steel grades for a wide array of job requirements. For cast iron jobs, PR905 provides high efficiency and stability. The FS (Fine Surface) TiAlN coatings long life is accomplished with high surface smoothness, wear resistance, and thermal stability. PR830s combination of the FS TiAlN coating and a TiN coating make it excellent for high cutting speeds in general steels and stainless steels. Initially, only the JT general-purpose chipbreaker is available, but three more will be introduced in the near future. The JS chipbreaker is designed to reduce cutting forces, the JA will apply to aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and the JU will be a ground class chipbreaker.
