SMTCL-Americas has introduced a re-designed large Gantry Boring and Milling Center, the EGC2040, which provides increased reliability and performance to manufacturers of large parts. SMTCL’s Chief Operating Officer Jerry McCarty stated, “Our engineers in Germany reduced the number of components on the machine, which has both increased the machine’s reliability and decreased the cost. By focusing on design and quality, we are able to provide our customers a better product at lower price.”
The EGC2040 machine features a 6,000 RPM CAT 50 spindle with a German ZF gearbox for high torque. The machine also comes standard with coolant thru the spindle, Heidenhain scales on the X, Y, & Z axes, and a 40 position automatic tool changer. The table on the machine is 78” x 157” and capable of handling 30,800 lbs. Travels on the machine are 165” in X, 88” in Y, 31” in Z.
The EGC2040 is controlled by the powerful FANUC 0i-MD Control with 10.4” screen, USB, PCMIA, and Ethernet capabilities, AICC II, and a Remote Manual Pulse Generator.
The new EGC2040 will be on display and in operation at the IMTS exhibition at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL from September 8 - 13. SMTCL will be in Booth S-8148 in the Metal Cutting Pavilion in the South Hall.
