Creform Corp., a manufacturer of products for material handling structures and AGVs, has announced the availability of its new Virtual Path Navigation system for select AGV models. Powered by Creform’s LIDAR-LOC technology, the system enables AGVs to navigate complex industrial environments using virtual routes – reducing reliance on physical guide tape, while significantly increasing layout flexibility and adaptability.
The Creform Virtual Path Navigation system marks a significant advancement in Creform AGV guidance. The Virtual Path Navigation system combines virtual line guidance with contour-based localization, allowing the AGV to reference permanent features within the facility to maintain precise positioning. This dual-navigation approach ensures reliable operation even in dynamic environments where layouts, equipment, or workstations may change over time.
This system provides a powerful new option for route definition, allowing users to create complex, easily modifiable paths without physical tape. While the option to eliminate physical tape installation and maintenance is available, users retain the standard magnetic tape guidance system, ensuring reliable operation in all layouts. Furthermore, users retain the flexibility to switch seamlessly between the virtual path navigation system and the standard magnetic tape guidance system anywhere in the layout, ensuring maximum operational adaptability and allowing users to leverage the best method for each section or task.
Creform's LIDAR-LOC technology forms the foundation of this advanced navigation system, which provides robust navigation capabilities. This system allows AGVs to operate effectively even in dynamic environments, remaining resilient against minor contour changes, making them ideal for evolving production lines or warehouse layouts.
Configuration and path mapping are simplified through an onboard HMI touch screen and a general PC interface.
Creform offers six AGV models equipped for this virtual path system: The Zero-Turn, three versions of its NSI 3.0 Series (CA-Z33090, CA-Z25120), and two versions of its K10 series (CA-Z35090). These AGVs deliver high transport capacity, sophisticated features, compact design, and precise accuracy (±1cm/±1°), suitable for various applications requiring automation.
