Iscar has increased its range of the PICCO-MF multifunction tools. The indexable tools have been designed for drilling, face turning, external turning, and internal turning/boring.
The DR-MF is designed for Swiss-type machines, miniature parts, the medical industry, dies and molds, the aerospace industry, as well as general engineering applications.
There are two kinds of cutting edges for both drilling and turning. The high-helix cutting edge of these inserts helps to minimize cutting forces and provides optimal chip control at low feeds. The new XCMT inserts are made from grade IC908 which is a submicron substrate TiAIN multilayer coating. This durable coating provides good and reliable tool life even when performing a variety of operations. The design is also unique in that they can be used on both right-hand and left-hand tools, thereby minimizing the need to keep two types of inserts in inventory.
According to Iscar, the new DRMF tools are HARD TOUCH coated with the 60 HRc hardness coating to provide the best possible wear resistance. This coating provides excellent wear resistance as well as reduces surface friction coefficient. This combination helps to improve chip evacuation and reduces clogging.
