The 30-taper RoboDrill E vertical machining center is designed for speed, accuracy, and rigidity. And according to the company, this makes it well suited for machining a host of medical components such as tibial bearings, valve bodies and assemblies, probes, tubular and solid needles, implants, and dental tools.
Capable of rigid tapping to 8,000 rpm, peck tapping blind holes, high-speed reverse tapping, federates to 2,362 ipm, rapid traverses to 2,125 ipm, and accelerations to 1.5G makes the 30-Taper RoboDrill E comparable to larger high-speed machines. Furthermore, with precision-enhancing thermal compensation and HRV control, the RoboDrill E maintains positioning accuracy of 0.0002-in. and repeatability of ±0.0008-in.
The Fanuc 31i-A5 Nano CNC provides control resolution of 1 nanometer. An optional 1000 block "look-ahead," and a 0.4 ms block processing speed, ensures exceptional surface finishes.
The RoboDrill E comes standard with a 14 or 21 station tool changer and is available with a 5/7.5 hp, 10,000 rpm or a 2/5 hp, 24,000 rpm spindle. To meet different machining and space requirements, the machine is available in three sizes with working cubes up to 27.5 x 15.7 x 12.9 in.
Options include a fourth and fifth axis, coolant through spindle, spindle measuring probe, and a laser tool setter.
