NIAR Acheives New Scope of Nadcap Accreditation

Accreditation is for eight new mechanical tests, renewal for 16 types of mechanical tests for non-metallic materials.

The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University has achieved additional Nadcap accreditation to perform eight new mechanical tests for non-metallic materials, and has achieved renewal of accreditation to perform 16 types of mechanical tests for non-metallic materials.

“We are continually expanding our scope of accreditation within the Nadcap process,” states Royal Lovingfoss, associate director of the Composites and Mechanical Test Labs. “We are taking steps toward accreditation for the mechanical testing of metals and looking into non-mechanical processes including NDI, thermal and chemical.”

NIAR already offers these testing services without NADCAP accreditation. NIAR’s internal Calibration and Quality Lab ensures all tests are performed to industry standards, however, many of NIAR’s customer’s including original equipment manufacturers such as Boeing, Spirit and Airbus, and their tier-one suppliers require NADCAP accreditation for testing.

NIAR is one of only thirteen suppliers in the U.S. with NADCAP accreditation in non-metallic materials testing. It is the only accredited supplier in Kansas. NIAR’s NADCAP certification and scope can be viewed on its accreditation site.
