Turkish Airlines has selected Rockwell Collins' EP-8000 image generation and new liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) projection systems for its entire flight simulation platform.
The projection systems, which will be used for Turkish Airlines' nine simulators, will be delivered later this year.
According to Rockwell, the EP-8000 features near eye-limit resolution, real-world scene density and depth complexity, sub-meter, out-the-window and sensor imagery over very large areas, real-world correlated lighting, atmospherics and special effects, and better reliability and maintainability.
With the selection the system for all of its simulators, the realism, particularly for airports, will be common throughout all Turkish Airlines simulators and will result in consistent flight crew training.
The new systems utilize commercial off-the-shelf components and software programmable technology for all graphic rendering.
Level D certified from governing authorities on various flight simulators, Rockwell Collins' EP-8000 projection system is available for both commercial and military training applications.
Established in 1933, Turkish Airlines has a fleet of 232 aircraft flying to 237 cities across the world, including 41 domestic and 196 international destinations.
