Product Manager Marcus Imes will demonstrate machining techniques on the Tsugami M08SY turning center.
Windsor, Connecticut – Tsugami/Rem Sales, the exclusive North American importer of Precision Tsugami CNC machine tools, will host the Precision Machined Products Association’s (PMPA) second annual East Coast Mini-Tech Conference at its Windsor, Connecticut, facility on Nov. 17, 2015.
“Last year’s Mini-Tech Conference at Rem Sales was so well received that we decided to make it an annual event,” PMPA Technical Program Director Monte Guitar said.
The conference targets precision machine shop workers in the northeast and will include six hours of training, including metallurgy, production risk assessment, technical problem solving, and an interactive machining demonstration.
“This isn’t the type of educational conference that puts people to sleep,” Guitar emphasized, adding that participants will be asked to analyze a part drawing and discuss the challenges of manufacturing the part from an engineering, operator, and quality perspective. “The focus will not be on how quickly the part can be produced, but rather on the risk assessment that must be taken into account for successful production,” Guitar said.
Tsugami/Rem Sales will review machining concepts and demonstrate them on the shop floor during the interactive machining segment of the training. This year’s conference will feature the heavy-duty Tsugami M08SY CNC turning center, which has a back spindle and Y axis. It holds up to 12 live tools and is for milling, drilling, cross-drilling and boring.
“We enjoy hosting these types of educational events,” Tsugami/Rem Sales Vice President Mike Mugno said. “Helping machinists make better parts is at the heart of what we do, and we all learn something new in the process.”
The event is open to the public and participants can register to attend on the PMPA website. PMPA members can earn 0.6 PMPA CEU credits for participating.
