Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has expanded its aerospace capabilities and capacity with the addition of Aero-Plastics Inc., a U.S.-based specialist supplier of aircraft interior components made from high-performance polymers.
The acquisition extends Trelleborg’s product portfolio and capacity in the growing aerospace sector.
Aero-Plastics, founded 80 years ago and based in Renton, Washington, offers expertise in precision injection molding, thermoforming, and machining of high-performance polymer materials. The company delivers complete solutions such as window reveal and blind assemblies that simplify customer supply chains through value-added services such as assembly, engraving, and specialized painted coatings.
Gordon Roper, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business unit president, Global Aerospace, says: “The acquisition further expands Trelleborg’s aerospace offering and product range, while at the same time strengthening our position in thermoplastics and interiors, generating favorable synergies.
“Aero-Plastics is a great fit. Not only does it bring us new capacity and knowledge, it’s a business built on the same principles as Trelleborg, delivering growth through strong, long-term customer relationships.”
Aero-Plastics employees were welcomed into the Trelleborg family at a celebratory ceremony at the Renton site in April.
The acquisition was made by Trelleborg Group through its Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area with the transaction consolidated on April 10. Aero-Plastics sales in 2024 amounted to approximately $15.4 million.
The global aerospace industry is in a significant growth phase that is expected to continue for many years and Trelleborg has actively sought to expand in the sector. In 2024 Trelleborg acquired Magee Plastics, a U.S.-based company focused on thermoplastic solutions for the aerospace industry, and announced development of a new state-of-the-art production facility in Morocco dedicated to sealing solutions for the aerospace industry. It is scheduled to be inaugurated at the end of 2025.
