8th annual TraceParts competition

CAD designers are invited to reproduce a place or monument that best represents their country in 3D, to be in with a chance of winning a 3D printer.


St Romain, France – TraceParts officials have announced the launch of the company’s 8th annual competition.

The TraceParts engineer community, numbering more than 2 million CAD users, has been getting involved in this competition for eight years.

This year, participants are invited to draw a place or monument in 3D that best represents their country, using CAD or image editing software.

They can use as many CAD components as they wish, available free on the TracePartsOnline.net portal.

Entries should be submitted to info@traceparts.com before Dec. 17, 2014 in a file no more than 1MB in size.

All the entries will be published on www.traceparts.com, and the best design will be revealed on Dec. 24, 2014.

Participation in this competition is anonymous, and the winner will be contacted by the TraceParts team to be awarded the prize for 2014, a 3D RepRapPro printer distributed by RS Components.

All the 3D files available on TracePartsOnline.net are compatible with the most popular native CAD software packages used, such as SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, Pro/ENGINEER & Creo, Inventor, AutoCAD, Solid Edge, TopSolid, Geomagic Design, Kompas 3D, SpaceClaim, SketchUp, Autodesk REVIT, ZW3D, Draftsight, HiCAD, TurboCAD, and T-FLEX.

Most neutral CAD formats are also supported, in particular DWG, DXF, IGES, STEP, SAT, JT, VRML, and many others including STL format, which is the standard format for CAD files used for 3D printing.
