Thermacore releases new materials technology brochure

Includes a precise description of the combination of development and manufacturing capabilities related to advanced composites materials.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania – Thermacore Inc., a provider of advanced thermal management and material solutions, has released a new Materials Technology brochure, which outlines the materials development and processing capabilities of the company’s Materials Technology Division (MTD). These unique capabilities, products and services include:
  • Materials Joining Services: Soldering, brazing, including aluminum vacuum brazing and controlled atmospheric brazing (CAB), welding, solution heat treating, aging, adhesive bonding, diffusion bonding, and fusing
  • Processing: Cold and hot isostatic pressing; sintering; high-strain-rate forging and extruding; out-of-autoclave and autoclave processing; swaging; DC button melting; AC vacuum arc re-melting; and heat treating at high temperature and pressure, vacuum, atmospheric gases and air
  • Testing: High-temperature vacuum tensile, fatigue and compression testing; impact testing; corrosion testing; hydrostatic ultra-low vacuum creep testing and aging; several forms of helium testing, including vacuum leak check; and drop testing – even O-ring material qualification capabilities
  • Materials Analysis Services: Metallography/Materialography, scanning electron microscopy, hardness testing, and residual gas analysis
  • Specialized Processes: Such as cryomilling of aluminum or magnesium alloy powders in liquid nitrogen or argon
  • Development and Consultation Services: Refractory alloy development through button melting, vacuum arc re-melting and other melting and processing capabilities; composite material and process development; consultation on failure analysis and mechanical design
  • Manufacturing Services: Including product build-to-print, fabrication, assembly and system integration. Other related services include supply chain management, total quality assurance (identification of KPIs and ongoing measurement), product validation and performance testing

The Materials Technology brochure also provides a rapid but precise description of the combination of development and manufacturing capabilities related to advanced composites materials, such as graphite, carbon, glass, ceramic-matrix, thermoplastic and thermoset matrix, as well as a comprehensive description of the custom metal alloy processes, crafted to meet extreme conditions for an array of alloying elements, from aluminum to zirconium.

Included, too, is a list of the various available services for processing, testing and analysis of materials, such as metallography/materialography, scanning electron microscopy, residual gas analysis, O-ring material qualification, fatigue, compression, impact and corrosion evaluation, among others.

Nick Gianaris, general manager, Thermacore Materials Technology Division, states, “The capabilities of Thermacore’s MTD, summarized in this new catalog, give our customer base a broad family of tools and capabilities in the material development and processing field, both for products we are manufacturing and for other needs they have, either in the development arena or in the understanding of an existing product or process. Together with Thermacore’s Materials Technology Division, our customers can use this capability to deliver results to their mission-critical solutions.”

Located in Rostraver, Pennsylvania, the Materials Technology Division of Thermacore is a new state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing center for advanced fabrication techniques, materials, and testing services.
