Symbiotics Ltd, leading international specialists in human performance assessment and training solutions, has been involved in the field of Base ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance) since 2008 when the company became involved in meeting the early training needs, including course development. Today, Symbiotics Ltd is continuing to deliver a comprehensive, high-level training service for the team, headed by General Dynamics.
By incorporating multiple cameras and a variety of different sensor technologies linked to networked command and control systems, it provides a 24 hour, all-weather, protection capability for armed forces deployed in operational theatres. To deliver its full potential, however, the training of a wide range of Army personnel, across a broad spectrum of ranks and specialisations, is critical to ensuring that the right information is collected, interpreted and applied.
Following the principles of the Defence Systems Approach to Training, Symbiotics Ltd. is a key partner in the project, managing and delivering Base ISTAR training for both operators and maintainers as they prepare for deployment. Covering the range of hardware and software applications involved, the Symbiotics Ltd training team is using a variety of methodologies and advanced techniques, including the configuration of simulators to provide trainees with a highly realistic, virtual scenario-based experience. Nikki Heath, CEO of Symbiotics Ltd, comments, “Our continuing involvement in this important project is highly significant for us. Not only is it a major contract from a commercial point of view, it also represents an ongoing validation of our ability to deliver a level of military Subject Matter Expertise that few other training organisations can match.”
