Sodick Inc., a manufacturer of EDM technology, held an opening ceremony of their new manufacturing plant in Pathumthani, Thailand on February 1st, 2013. During the opening ceremony, officials also announced that in 2012 the company reached a milestone of selling 30,000 linear motor driven machines since the launch of linear motor driven machines in 1999.
The new facility was built to accommodate for the high demand of Sodick’s machines all over the world. With the latest equipment, the new factory generates high productivity collaborating with the other Sodick Thailand facility located nearby; this facility opened in 1990 and employs over 1,000 people.
Sodick now has a total of six production facilities. Having production facilities in various locations minimizes geopolitical risks and enables the expansion of production capacity in accordance with market demand. The Sodick Group continues to work towards establishing a flexible and strong production network which ensures the stable delivery of products with the highest quality to customers worldwide.
The new location will produce parts and components for EDM machines and will assemble Sinker EDMs. The expected volume for 2013 is 2,000 machines with the expectation of increasing this amount in future years.
