SMTCL helps create the future of machining

Saugus, California – SMTCL is working with the William S. Hart School District and the new Advanced Technologies Career Pathways program.

 

SMTCL will be donating machines to a few local high schools in Santa Clarita, California. The schools that will be receiving the machines are part of a new Career Pathways program called Advanced Technologies. This program will feature a set of courses to introduce and certify students in CAD/CAM programming, 3D printing, and CNC machining. 

 

The first school that will be starting this program in the fall is Saugus High School. Recently, SMTCL, Precision CNC, and West Coast Customs came together to get students excited for what these courses will be offering. Students were able to see a West Coast Customs car as well as parts made on CNC machines and 3D printed parts. In the evening, students and parents heard speakers from industry and the school district to learn more about the new program. Guest speakers included SMTCL COO Jerry McCarty, Precision CNC, Boston Scientific, College of the Canyons, and Career Technical Education Administrator, Mariane Doyle, Ph.D. 

 

SMTCL Marketing Specialist, Caitlin May explains, “We are very eager to help the school district by providing machines, as well as help students to see how many opportunities there are in the manufacturing industries.”
