Charlotte, North Carolina – SmartSky Networks, a next-generation aviation communications provider, has selected DAC International (DAC) as a connectivity partner for its product, SmartSky 4G. As the first airborne 4G LTE-based wireless network, this technology will provide more than 10 times the typical speed and capacity of networks currently in the aviation market.
Together, SmartSky Networks and DAC are developing STC retrofit packages for installation in certain aircraft models. DAC International, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, specializes in supplying advanced avionics, systems, and test equipment to numerous aviation segments including business aviation, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and military markets through a worldwide dealership network.
“We’re truly excited about bringing DAC on board and connecting with their comprehensive and capable dealer network,” said SmartSky Networks president Ryan Stone. “This agreement will increase the availability of our leading-edge product and service to better meet the connectivity needs of business aviation customers.”
In conjunction with leading aerospace and technology partners, SmartSky plans to beta-launch its innovative Air-To-Ground network, SmartSky 4G, in late 2015, followed by the rollout of nationwide commercial service in 2016.SmartSky Networks
