Nat'l Univ. of Singapore Launches Aerospace Initiative

The National University of Singapore's (NUS) Faculty of Engineering is launching an aerospace systems initiative which will prepare engineering students for the growing aerospace industry.

The initiative will offer a learning pathway for students to design and develop complex engineering systems for special aerospace missions.

This pathway will be open to NUS undergraduates across all Engineering disciplines, such as Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, and Engineering Science.

It will take in 30 to 40 students per year and students will need to possess a passion for design and a keen interest in aerospace systems.

They may embark on this pathway during their first year or in subsequent years of study, and continue to conduct related research up to PhD level.

A pilot run involving 48 engineering students was introduced in January 2012.

Of these, 17 third-year and eight final-year students from the disciplines of Electrical, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering are currently working on projects which are related to nano-satellite systems design.
