Raptor Workholding Products partners with Machining Cloud

Supplier of workholding solutions for 5-axis CNC machining to make product data accessible via Machining Cloud app.

Stans, Switzerland – Raptor Workholding Products, a supplier of flexible workholding solutions for 5-axis CNC machining, and Machining Cloud GmbH, a product data content provider for the digital shop, have entered into a new partnership under which Raptor plans to publish its workholding product data onto the Machining Cloud to reduce the time associated with finding, selecting, purchasing, and using its products.

Through the Machining Cloud, Raptor's product data – descriptive, usage and geometric information, application knowledge and price and availability – will be readily available for its customers’ process planning and to feed their CAM systems, simulation software, and other data-hungry shop software. Using the Machining Cloud tablet and desktop apps, Raptor's customers will have access to a rich set of software features including Selector, Configurator, Job Management, Reporting, and Commerce.

"While customers will see a big productivity improvement using the apps for choosing a cutting-tool and workholding solution for a given job, there is an even bigger benefit from the Machining Cloud's ability to feed the product data directly into their shop software," says Pierre-Francois Tavard, Cloud Evangelist for the Machining Cloud GmbH. "By utilizing cloud technology and industry standards – including ISO13399, STEP, GTC, and MTConnect – the Machining Cloud is capable of serving up-to-date product data to virtually any shop floor software or system."

Raptor dovetail fixtures for 5-axis workholding mount directly to a machine and allow fast changeover of workholding solutions. Raptor's dovetail design quickly locks the part in place, providing clamping strength and rigidity without distortion or clamp creep. It machines five sides of the workpiece in one setup and eliminates the need for custom fixtures, resulting in more time spent making parts. An additional benefit is the Raptor solid models to aid in programming.

"Raptor is very excited to partner with Machining Cloud to aid our customers in retrieving the product data they need to produce their parts. Customers can now enjoy easy access to the information they need so that they can be more efficient at what they do," says Brian O'Rell, president, Raptor Workholding Products.

The Machining Cloud apps run on Microsoft Windows 7 and 8 powered desktop and tablet computers, as well as Android tablets and iPads. The Machining Cloud is a neutral platform open to all partners and suppliers, making it suitable for the needs of most shops.
