Orlando, Florida – PPG displayed a commercial aircraft passenger-cabin window prototype fabricated from Opticor advanced transparency material and color and textured clear samples of the PPG proprietary aerospace plastic at the recent National Business Aviation Association convention and exhibition.
According to Mark Hood, PPG global director, general aviation transparencies, Opticor advanced transparency material is the lightest weight plastic available for aerospace transparencies, saving weight on aircraft for enhanced fuel efficiency. It also has exceptional crazing and scratch resistance to retain optical clarity and excellent fire resistance.
PPG’s global aerospace business offers coatings, sealants, transparencies, packaging and application systems, and transparent armor, as well as chemical management and other services.
