ONE Aviation's Eclipse 550 is EASA-certified

The European Aviation Safety Agency has awarded type certification to the light twin-engine jet.

Las Vegas, Nevada – The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has awarded type certification for the Eclipse 550 twin-engine jet produced by ONE Aviation.

"This is a significant event for ONE Aviation and the global future of the Eclipse," said Alan Klapmeier, ONE Aviation's CEO. "The Eclipse perfectly fits the typical European mission profile, one that involves carrying three or four passengers a thousand nautical miles."

ONE Aviation currently has two European distributors who have been anxiously awaiting this development, Aeris Aviation, in Lane Forest, Guernsey (EGJB); and Jetlounge in Schönhagen, Germany (EDAZ) and Eelde, The Netherlands (EHGG).

"We are thrilled to have EASA certification in place," says David Hayman, CEO of Aeris Aviation. "This now opens the EU OPS market [European equivalent of Part 135] for the Eclipse, allowing us to sell into charter operations and air taxi services which we believe will be a great fit for the this aircraft."

Alexandra Knorr, CEO of Jetlounge, agrees. "This certification is an incredible development. Not only can we sell into charter services, but this also opens up sales to private aviators across Europe who only want to fly an EASA certified aircraft. We already have sales contingent upon certification and are excited to make these deliveries early next year."

Modifications on the aircraft in order to comply with EASA regulations are minimal and can be completed in less than a day. The Eclipse 550 twin-engine jet from ONE Aviation can fly at altitudes up to 41,000ft at a max cruise of 430mph, all while consuming only 59 gallons of fuel per hour.
