Northrop Grumman to Cut 200 More Positions

Northrop Grumman is planning to cut about 200 more positions by March, in Woodland Hills, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Gina Piellusch, a company spokeswoman, says the proposed Pentagon budget cuts make the reduction “imperative.”

“This workforce reduction action is regrettable, but unavoidable,” Piellusch tells the paper. “These reductions—which are intended to reduce infrastructure costs and improve overall affordability—are in response to continuing economic uncertainties and defense budget cuts and are critical to continued business success in the increasingly competitive aerospace and defense industry.”

Workers in Northrop’s electronics division complexes have an option to enter a volunteer separation program, but Piellusch says if there are not enough volunteers, the company will initiate involuntary reductions next year.
