Mazak Corporation has announced that it has attained ISO 9001:2008 certification for its manufacturing plant in Florence, KY. The company’s facility previously held ISO 9001:2000 certification, which it had obtained in 2003.
“Because of Mazak’s constant dedication to excellence in quality standards, we would already undertake all of the actions necessary to receive ISO 9001:2008 certification,” says Brian Papke, president of Mazak. “Documenting our processes and having them undergo the certification process is a way of demonstrating to our customers our commitment to providing the highest quality and reliability in our Nexus CNC machines.”
The ISO 9001:2008 certification is very similar to ISO 9001:2000 certification, which it is replacing. Several restrictions have been tightened and language has been added or changed to provide additional clarification. Mazak’s ISO 9001:2008 certification applies to its production operations, including the design and manufacture of CNC machines, spindle rebuilds and remanufacturing at its Florence, Kentucky facility.
The Mazak Florence plant produces the Nexus lines of vertical machining centers and turning centers with multi-tasking capabilities. Mazak will introduce 10 new models from this plant in the fall of 2009.
