Lufthansa Technik AG and UTC Aerospace Systems, a supplier in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner program, have signed a long-term contract to provide rotable provisioning and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services on Boeing 787 nacelle components designed and manufactured by UTC Aerospace Systems' Aerostructures business.
Lufthansa Technik now offers its customers the full spectrum of life cycle support services for Boeing 787 nacelles on both General Electric and Rolls-Royce engines. Such services include sophisticated high-tech repairs and modifications, lease and exchange of nacelle components, and on-site repairs around the world to quickly resolve aircraft on ground situations.
Heike Hartmann, Director of Lufthansa Technik's airframe related component (ARC) business unit, says, “This agreement is a further milestone for our roadmap to establish Lufthansa Technik as one of the leading MRO providers for the new Boeing 787 program."
With more than three decades of experience repairing commercial aircraft with major composite components, Lufthansa Technik has the experience to support customers through the entire life cycle of the nacelle – from entry into service support up to major repairs.
