Lockheed Martin Moves 560 from GA to TX

Lockheed Martin is moving hundreds of its employees across the country, from Georgia to Texas, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The Texas publication reports that the company is relocating 560 salaried employees from its Marietta, GA, plant to its headquarters in Fort Worth, TX. No hourly workers are affected.

Lockheed Martin made the F-22 Raptor, the last of which was delivered to the U.S. Air Force this year.

“Now we are at a stage of supporting the aircraft that are in the field and looking at opportunities to make improvements in the aircraft,” Lockheed spokesman Joe Stout says, according to the Star-Telegram.

Lockheed Martin also lost funding from the Pentagon for the F-22 years ago, so the company could focus on making the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Stout says employees will be offered a relocation package and must decide by Jan. 7 whether or not they plan to move. For those that stay, the company will decide whether they can fill other positions, or whether they will be laid off.

He says the relocations will probably save the company millions of dollars.
