“There’s 2010 and There’s the Recovery” is the keynote presentation topif for SMMA's 2009 Fall Technical Conference. Eli S. Lustgarten, senior research analyst, Industrial Machinery and Equipment, of Longbow Research, will deliver the keynote address Wednesday morning, November 4, 2009 at the SMMA Fall Technical Conference in Chicago, IL.
With the recession coming to an end, Lustgarten will discuss the outlook for industrial end markets 2010-2012 with an emphasis on commodity costs. In his abstract Lustgarten states, “While 2010 is likely a transition year for most industrial end markets with modest volume gains, most production gains will be stronger than expected and reflect the end of inventory liquidation. Companies need to focus on 2010 to 2012, when the below average, muted recovery of 2010 gains strength and end market demand begins to grow sharply albeit from a depressed base.”
Having begun his Wall Street career over three decades ago, Lustgarten has worked at Mitchell Hutchins; Paine Webber after their 1977 merger where he led the Industrial Manufacturing Group; Schroder (Wertheim); and most recently as the senior analyst and director of research for research boutique start-ups HC Wainwright and JB Hanauer. He is a six time Wall Street Journal All Star and was elected as a member of the Institutional Investor All - America Research Team over two decades until his coverage shifted. Lustgarten has electrical engineering degrees from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn ( New York) and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.
