Columbia, South Carolina – JBE Inc., a supplier to the automotive, aerospace, and industrial electrical industries, is expanding into the city of Hanahan, in Berkeley County, South Carolina. The investment is expected to create approximately 20 new jobs in the region.
As part of this expansion, the company plans to grow its aerospace work and better serve all of its customers through proximate access to the Port of Charleston and all of its customers.
Established in 1982 as a family-owned business in Hartsville, S.C., JBE Inc. currently has 55 employees and is among only a handful of minority-owned companies on the East Coast to hold a Foreign Trade Zone designation. The company serves a variety of industry leaders in a sub-assembly and manufacturing capacity, including: Boeing, Cummins, Otis Elevator, Honda, Sonoco, Hengst and ABB.
“Our first thank you, in helping JBE Inc. grow and succeed over the years, goes to the people that we have here and the way that we feel about them being a part of our family,” said Jerry Ellison, president and CEO of JBE Inc. “Without them, these last 30 years would not have been possible. We would also like to give a special thanks to CRDA, SC Commerce, Berkeley County and the city of Hanahan.”
Gov. Nikki Haley said, “JBE has been a part of South Carolina’s business community for more than 30 years, and we are excited to celebrate with them once again as they create 20 new jobs. We look forward to their continued success.”
