Intuitive Machines teams with Deep Space Systems

Houston – Houston-based engineering think tank Intuitive Machines LLC is a teammate of Colorado-based Deep Space Systems Inc., which has been awarded an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) technical services contract with Lockheed Martin Space Systems. This contract is in support of various Lockheed Martin commercial and NASA prime contracts and proposals. Deep Space Systems (DSS) is the prime contractor to Lockheed Martin in which the total contract value over 3 years plus a 2 year option period is $50 million. For DSS teammate Intuitive Machines, this contract represents $10 million of engineering solutions and technical services business over the next 5 years.

 

Intuitive Machines and Deep Space Systems will provide support for all of Lockheed Martin's projects in the areas of human and robotic exploration and commercial space. Specific projects will include industry-leading efforts such as NASA's Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R- Series Program (GOES-R), Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport (InSight), and Origins Spectral Interpretation Resource Identification Security Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx).

Intuitive Machines was founded in 2013 by Steve Altemus in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas with a core group of engineers from the NASA Johnson Space Center. Intuitive Machines is a partially owned subsidiary of Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, Inc.
