About the speaker
Thomas Long, Senior Engineering Manager - Virtual Machining & Product Classification
- T. J. Long joined Kennametal in January 2000 on the Indexable Milling Engineering Team, where he was responsible for the development and commercialization of new Indexable Milling platforms.
- In February 2006, he became the Engineering Manager of the team.
- As an advocate of advanced technologies, he is knowledgeable in titanium machining, high speed machining, modal analysis, and finite element analysis.
- Long has a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s in business administration from Duquesne University.
Current position/tasks
- In November 2012, Long became the Engineering Manager of the Virtual Machining team, which is primarily responsible for the development of NOVO.
- In January 2014, he also became the Engineering Manager of the Product Classification team, which is responsible for managing Kennametal’s digital assets.
