IMTS 2014 Conference: Choosing a Toolholder Technology

Look at some scenarios and help you determine what toolholder will work best.

Chicago – Make plans to attend the IMTS 2014 Conferences to learn about Choosing a Toolholder Technology that Best Fits Your Process.

DATE: Tuesday, September 9 from 3:15 PM - 4:10 PM   ROOM: W-193B

SPEAKER: Matthew Panosh, Tooling Group Manager, SCHUNK

There is a growing list of innovative toolholding technologies available today, but not one that fits every process. It's clear that the process parameters are driven by the workpiece material, the cutting tool and the machine, but the toolholder is the critical interface that is seldom considered as a compliment to these parameters. Disappointing machine tool and cutting tool performances in many cases can be attributed to the use of the wrong toolholder. As the process complexity grows so does the need to understand all of the technologies available; this is true for the machine, the cutter and the toolholder.

This session will take a look at some scenarios and help you determine what toolholder will work best. Take the following into consideration - machining process, material and machining tool capabilities all play a part in deciding what toolholder best suits your needs.

The educational and informative conferences run Sept. 8-11, 2014 in the West Building, Level 1. To register for this or any session, visit www.imts.com/education/imtsconference.html.
