Hurco will showcase the company’s expertise in 5-axis machining and multi-tasking machines at Booth 1205 at the AeroDef Show in Anaheim, CA, April 5-7, 2011.
Hurco has focused its research and development on 5-axis machining because this technology is the most expedient way for customers to increase profitability. The VMX30U 5-axis machining center is equipped with control technology for both NC and Conversational that makes programming and processing of part programs painless. The VMX30U has X/Y/Z travels of 30 x 20 x 20.5 inches, rapids that are 1,378 per minute in X and Y, and 1,181 inches per minute in Z. The integrated trunnion table design of the VMX30U yields exceptional part clearances and larger part capacity. Beyond the rigid and reliable hardware of the machine, the advanced Hurco control technology has exclusive 5-axis software features that increase efficiency, reduce setup time, and improve surface finish.
In addition to 5-axis machining, Hurco will introduce multiple advancements in multi-tasking technology. The Hurco TMX line of multi-tasking lathes includes high performance lathes with motorized live tooling for single setup production of aerospace and defense parts. The newest TMX multi-tasking machine is the TMX10MY with specifications that include 37.3 hp on the spindle motor, 7.3hp live tooling with C-axis, spindle speed to 3,500rpm, spindle torque to 258ft/lbs, 10-inch 3-jaw chuck, bar capacity to 3", index time of .35 seconds, travels of 8.76” in X, 26” in Z, and 4.4” in Y. The maximum cutting diameter is 14.8” with maximum cutting length of 24.7”.
Because the TMX10MY is a true slant-bed lathe, it is more rigid and facilitates larger part capacity. The all digital drives and motors with absolute encoders on all linear axes promote superior surface finish capability and exceptional performance for turning and milling operations. The integrated Hurco control powered by WinMax® software reduces the complexity of programming parts for mill-turn machining. The state-of-the-art graphics capabilities eliminate scrap due to accurate simulation for verification. In addition to faster acceleration and deceleration rates, the TMX10MY includes ergonomic design features, such as convenient front foot pedals to quickly open/close the chuck and engage/disengage the tailstock.
Other TMX machine tools include the TMX8 and TMX10 turning centers, the TMX8MY turning center with live tooling, and the TMX8MYS and TMX10MYS turning centers with live tooling and sub-spindle.
