Wichita, Kan. will add 40 jobs through the closure of a Honeywell Aerospace avionics repair shop in suburban Cleveland, Ohio.
The Wichita Eagle reports that the jobs will be moved to Honeywell's service center at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport.
Honeywell spokesman Scott Sayres says the openings are primarily for electronic technicians, but a few openings are for support positions, including material handlers, quality and integrated supply chain supervisors.
Honeywell employs about 80 in its facility in Strongsville, Ohio. Sayres says the company will phase out the site over the next year. The goal of the closures is to cut costs.
Sayres says that besides Wichita, Honeywell will also move work to a facility in Renton, Wash.
