Herndon Products Inc. continues to raise the bar in product delivery and quality, according to a recent evaluation by Herndon's top government customer, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
DLA regularly scores its suppliers based on an Automated Best Value System (ABVS) that rates product quality and delivery. The score is based on a rolling, two-year window that is updated every month based on the past 24 months of delivery performance. These numbers are blended to create overall scores.
In December, Herndon received an overall score of 95.8. According to the DLA, the industry average is 92.7.
"Over the past three years, Herndon's score has continued to improve. We do a lot of volume with DLA while maintaining an above average score," says Don Skosky, director of business development at Herndon. "What separates us from our competition is that we have both a high volume of products being delivered and we maintain a high ABVS score. This suggests that our commitment to quality is reflected by the customer's evaluation of our performance."
Skosky says the improved score may reflect Herndon's recent investment in state-of-the-art inspection equipment and continuous improvement initiatives. Herndon has also recently been certified to AS 9120 Rev A.
"Building in quality up-front in our process is at the core of how we do business," he says. "We are continually striving to improve our processes, and these efforts are reflected in our high score."
