Hawker Beechcraft Cuts Hundreds of Jobs

Officials at Hawker Beechcraft sent a letter to its employees saying they are going to cut about 410 jobs in four locations across the United States, as part of a plan to come out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy as a smaller company called Beechcraft Corp.

The company has already begun the process of closing facilities in Little Rock, AR; San Antonio, TX; and Mesa, AZ, affecting about 240 employees. An additional 170 people will lose their jobs at the company’s Wichita, KS, and at its Little Rock Completions Center, according to the Wichita Eagle.

“While extremely difficult decisions, these closures and reductions in force will get the company closer to what we envision for our go-forward plan that focuses on turboprop, piston, special mission and trainer/attack aircraft, as well as parts, maintenance, repairs and refurbishment businesses,” the letter says

The Wichita Eagle also reports that Hawker Beechcraft has issued notices to 1,021 employees in Wichita alone.
