GF AgieCharmilles has launched a new range of FI CCS wire EDM machines that are not only fast and reliable but also energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Designed to reduce operation costs, the high performance line helps customers break into a variety of high precision manufacturing sectors by providing increased productivity, versatility and safety.
GF AgieCharmilles offers three machines in the FI CCS range: the FI 240 CCS, FI 440 CCS and FI 640 CCS. The machines are equipped with high performance ball screw collision protection technology, CleanCut digital generators and ECONOWATT, an energy-saving technology that enables machines to switch automatically to ‘sleep mode’ once machining operations are completed. This combination of features ensures maximum energy efficiency, with less than 8kW consumed for roughing operations and less than 1kW consumed when in sleep mode.
GF AgieCharmilles also designed the machines with four filters instead of two, reducing filtration costs by 25% and decreasing clogging. Additionally, each FICCS model features exclusive Econotec technology, which reduces wire consumption by 25% when used with a 0.30 mm wire.
The new FICCS machines offer cutting speeds in excess of 400 mm2/min, as well as large diameter and small wires for rough cutting operations. The ability to use larger diameter wires reduces the number of cuts required to produce the finished part, enabling each machine to achieve Ra .6µm surface finishes in three cuts and Ra .3µm in four cuts. The FICCS machines also offer exceptional accuracy and precision, and feature Integrated Collision Protection (ICP) on the X-, Y-, U- and V-axes to enable rapid rates of 3 m/min to be achieved and maintained without the danger of collisions.
