Goodrich Corporation has appointed Mike Gardiner as President of its Actuation Systems business unit. Gardiner, formerly CEO of the company's Aero Engine Controls joint venture with Rolls-Royce, will report to Jack Carmola, Segment President, Actuation and Landing Systems.
Commenting on the appointment, Carmola said, "Mike's 25 years of experience in our businesses has given him a deep understanding of our company and the aerospace industry, and provides a strong foundation as he prepares to take on this new role."
Gardiner joined Lucas, later to be acquired by TRW, in 1985 as technical manager and held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership within the business. Following Goodrich's acquisition of TRW Aeronautical Systems in October 2002 he was appointed President of the company's Power Systems business, then President of the Engine Controls and Electrical Power Systems business until taking leadership of the Aero Engine Controls joint venture in January 2009. Gardiner holds bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering.
Gardiner will be transitioning into the role during February 2010.
