The filtration of cooling fluids and grinding oils has become an important cost factor in today‘s metal working industry. Employing the right filtration system can save a lot of money and moreover improve product quality.
Vomat GmbH Germany supplies the metal industry with innovative filtration technology “Made in Germany.” Now the company is taking that technology across the Atlantic and introducing it to the United States.
One such example is Vomat’s series 120-420 machines.
Vomat specializes in micro filtration systems for metal cooling lubricants, which are used for materials, such as carbide, HSS, PKD, and CBN.
Vomat’s product portfolio consists of standalone, modular, central plant, and custom designed filtration systems. Options such as internal or external drive cooling, advanced sludge disposal, or add-on tanks allow for optimal system adaptation to about any customer wish or application needs.
Vomat systems are available in different sizes and configurations. One of the more popular Vomat series is the Vomat FA 120-480 series. Depending on machine type one can filter 120-480L/min (32-126gal/min).
Stephan Hecht, General Manager with Oelheld U.S. Inc., which is Vomat’s exclusive U.S. distributor states: “Vomat systems are perfect for micro filtration of cooling and cutting oils, used in processes, such as grinding, honing, lapping, and other processes. Their compact size of 1.0m x 1.0m x 1.6m (40” x 40” x 60”) and their maintenance friendly design require much less floor space, and offer increased performance than larger machines of less innovative design.”
Innovative Backwash, Filtration Technology
Vomat’s design uses full stream filtration with on-demand automatic back-wash cycles to clean its high performance filter cartridges for extended service life. When in automatic cycle this technology guarantees, depending on the degree of accumulated dirt, not only a 100% separation of dirty and clean oil, but also NAS 7 (3µm) quality clean oil supply to the work piece.
Moreover, the use of newly designed settling filters does not require the use of any other filtration agents. The oil volume of the FA 120 – 420 series Vomat systems is about 500L, the variable oil volume about 200L.
