GEE acquires masFlight

Los Angeles, California – Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. (GEE), a publicly traded, worldwide provider of aircraft connectivity systems, operations solutions, and media content to the travel industry, has acquired cloud-based big data provider masFlight. 

 

masFlight will be a foundation platform for the new GEE Operations Solutions business unit. The combined companies plan to introduce new visualization and business intelligence solutions later this year.

 

GEE offers in-flight connectivity, content, entertainment and digital solutions. The GEE Operations Solutions platform harnesses aircraft avionics data, transmits from air to ground using in-flight connectivity systems in real time, and provides comprehensive operating data that helps airlines improve operational efficiency, operating costs, and passenger experience.

 

masFlight’s cloud-based big data systems are coming together with GEE’s aircraft technology systems to create a new data source for operations. The company will continue to provide flight operations data with comprehensive weather, airport, and contextual data.

 

Global Eagle Entertainment serves more than 200 airlines worldwide airlines with a wide range of in-flight solutions that include Wi-Fi, movies, television, music, interactive software, as well as portable IFE solutions, content management services, e-commerce solutions, and original content development.
