Etihad Airways reimagines luxury air travel

Premium cabin spaces will be featured aboard select A380 and B787 aircraft.

Dubai – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, publicly showcased the latest developments in air travel with its new innovative, premium cabins aboard the airline’s Airbus A380 and Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan, said the new living spaces redefine inflight product and services to a new standard in commercial aviation.

“We are delivering the most advanced airline cabins in the industry, with unparalleled quality and style, and importantly at competitive prices across all three cabins,” Hogan remarked.

At the high end, the passenger spaces are reminiscent of luxury European railway carriages, featuring private compartments, but designed with modern private business-jet aesthetic.

The Residence by Etihad, with its three-room private cabin, offers a living room, double bedroom, and ensuite shower room. Located in the forward upper deck of the A380, it accommodates one or two people and comes with a dedicated and professionally trained personal butler.

The living room has a Poltrona Frau leather double-seat sofa with ottoman, two dining tables, chilled drinks cabinet and 32" flat screen TV. The bedroom is decorated with delicate fabrics and furnished with a natural fiber mattress double bed, Egyptian cotton sheets, and choice of pillows. A soft-carpeted hallway leads to the ensuite bathroom with shower, exclusive toiletries, and bathrobes.

The airline’s VIP travel concierge service takes care of guests booked into The Residence from the moment of reservation right through until the end of their stay with Etihad, and includes services from a luxury chauffeur to private check-in and lounge with five-star dining and complimentary spa treatments. An inflight chef is available to prepare gourmet meals or create a guest’s favorite dish.

The A380 also features First Apartments, which are fully private suites with a separate reclining lounge seat and full length bed, as well as chilled mini-bar, personal vanity cabinet, and wardrobe. The First Apartment is upholstered with Poltrona Frau leather and features a wide armchair, an ottoman that opens into an 81" long bed, and an adjustable 24" flat screen TV. The First Class bathroom features a shower.

The First Suite on the Etihad Airways B787 offers guests an enhanced suite with chilled mini-bar, complete privacy, and center seats, which can be joined to create a double bed.

The Business Studios on A380 and B787 aircraft are arranged in a 1-2-1 forward and aft configuration. The suite has a 22" wide seat and separate ottoman, which together create a fully-flat bed of up to 80.5" long.

A special mattress and complimentary loungewear provide bedtime comfort while a personal 18" touch screen TV with noise-cancelling headset delivers more than 750 hours of movies, shows, music, and interactive games. Wi-Fi connectivity provides in-flight phone and Internet access.

With a special pneumatic comfort system to adjust the firmness of the seat, in-seat massage and lighting at the touch of a button, guests can customize their environment for every stage of the flight.

The Economy Smart Seat will feature on both the A380 and the B787, offering an ergonomic fixed-wing headrest, lumbar support, and an 11" personal monitor screen. The seat also has an entertainment and connectivity hub, and mood lighting to provide a relaxed ambience throughout the flight.

Etihad's network, with a base in Abu Dhabi, includes destinations in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.
