Embraer Receives Order for E175s

Embraer officials announced Dec. 12, 2013, that the company has received a firm order for 60 E175 jets from American Airlines Inc. The contract also includes options for another 90 E175s, taking the total order potential up to 150 aircraft. The firm orders, which have a value of US$2.5 billion at list price, will be included in Embraer's 2013 fourth-quarter backlog.

American Airlines will configure the E175s with 12 First Class, 20 Main Cabin Extra and 44 Main Cabin seats, with a total of 76 seats. The delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for the first quarter of 2015.

During 2013, including this order from American Airlines, Embraer has received firm orders and options for more than 700 E-Jets from U.S. airlines for both current-generation and the E-Jets E2s.

 

Embraer continues to invest in the E-Jets family, which is flown by some 65 airlines from 45 countries. The company has begun implementing a series of enhancements to the E175, including new wingtips, systems optimization, and aerodynamic refinements that will lower fuel burn by up to 5%. Longer maintenance intervals and component improvements will increase aircraft productivity and lower maintenance costs, according to the manufacturer.

 

American Airlines Group is the holding company for American Airlines and US Airways. Together with American Eagle and US Airways Express, the airlines operate an average of nearly 6,700 flights per day to 339 destinations in 54 countries from its hubs in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. 

 

Embraer is a manufacturer of commercial jets that seat up to 130 passengers. The E-Jets family includes four aircraft that have between 70 and 130 seats. The E170, E175, E190, and E195 offer advanced engineering, high degree of efficiency, spacious, ergonomic cabins with two-by-two seating, and attractive operating economics. Since E-Jets entered revenue service in 2004, Embraer has received more than 1,350 firm orders for the aircraft family. More than 1,000 have been delivered. 

 

In 2013, Embraer launched E-Jets E2, the second generation of its E-Jets family of commercial aircraft comprised of three new airplanes – E175-E2, E190-E2, E195-E2 – seating from 70 to 130 passengers. The E190-E2 is expected to enter service in the first half of 2018. The E195-E2 is slated to enter service in 2019 and the E175-E2 in 2020.
