Eaton to Supply Hydraulics for Embraer E-Jets E2 Airplanes

Contract amount is estimated at $400 million for the life of the program.

Power management company Eaton has been awarded a contract by Embraer S.A. to supply hydraulic components for the newly launched E-Jets E2 commercial aircraft family. Embraer's second generation of E-Jets comprises three new airplanes: the E190-E2, the E195-E2 and the E175-E2. Eaton will provide pumps and power transfer units for all three aircraft. The contract amount is estimated at $400 million for the life of the program.

"Eaton's selection for the new E2 family demonstrates that our components remain a first choice for next-generation aircraft," says Mike Beck, senior vice president and general manager, Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division, Eaton’s Aerospace Group. "We're continuously improving our product portfolio to help customers meet new goals for reliability, fuel-efficiency, weight-savings, and lifecycle cost performance. Being part of the E2 supplier team adds an exciting new chapter to our long-standing relationship with Embraer."

Embraer's new E-Jets will feature aerodynamically advanced wings, improved systems and avionics, increased aircraft availability, and double-digit reductions in fuel consumption, emissions, noise, and maintenance costs. The E190-E2 is scheduled to enter service in 2018, followed by the E195-E2 in 2019 and the E175-E2 in 2020.
