Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co., has been selected by Airbus Military to deliver proximity sensors for the A320neo, fitted with CFM LEAP-1A engines. Airbus Military is delivering the fan cowl through Aircelle, a Tier 1 supplier to Airbus.
Crane’s proximity sensors will provide indications that the engine fan cowls are properly secured. The sensor will be adapted from Crane’s proven sensor and switch family, which have been used on multiple applications, including landing gear, doors, secondary flight controls, and thrust reversers.
“Airbus Military selected us because of our proven performance, high-reliability and overall value,” said Rick Jones, Aerospace Group Senior Vice President for Crane. Crane’s sensors have been chosen for similar applications on Trent XWB and PurePower 1100G engines for A350 XWB and A320neo aircraft, respectively.
With more than 40 years of experience, Crane is a technology leader in proximity sensing components and systems around the world with well over 1,000,000 proximity switches delivered and in-service.
