The Vermont Chamber’s Aerospace and Aviation Association (VAAA) will hold its third VAAA Event of 2012 on Thursday, October 4th, 2012 at the William H. Morse State Airport in Bennington, VT.

Premier sponsorship by Kaman Composite Structures and underwritten by the Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center (VT PTAC), Vermont agency of Transportation, Aviation Program, Cessna Aircraft Company, Norwich University, Windstream, and Always on Time Signs and Design, and media sponsorship by Vermont Business Magazine, this high-profile event will feature procurement and supply chain opportunities for Vermont Chamber members with high-level procurement specialists from leading government contractors, primes and sub primes in the aerospace, defense, medical and naval industries.

According to Visiongain, the global composites market will reach a value of $62.6 billion in 2012. Composites offer the aerospace, defense, medical and naval industries attractive cost-savings with key attributes and benefits, such as light-weight, strength and corrosion-resistance. To highlight and feature this global market opportunity, as well as Bennington, which is an emerging carbon composite manufacturing cluster, the Vermont Chamber is holding this high-profile VAAA event.

“Our Vermont Chamber membership has been a significant asset to our sales efforts. By attending VAAA events and through the work of the Chamber with manufacturers, we have built relationships and received contracts and sales orders from General Dynamics, Aviatron and Liquid Measurement Systems.

Prior to joining the Vermont Chamber, we worked for nearly 7 years to become a supplier to General Dynamics. By attending VAAA meetings, we met purchasing agents who have the authority to let us into their supply chain. We have received both direct contracts and “overflow” contracts assisting another supplier, in keeping up with the demand. We have recently achieved “Approved Supplier” status, providing product to 3 General Dynamics locations, creating 3 new machinist jobs at our company and for 2 months, 24/7, had 3 CNC machines dedicated to producing General Dynamics parts.”
