Officials for SKF announce they have signed a long-term agreement with Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp., for approximately SEK 170 million. Within the agreement, SKF will provide main shaft bearings for Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G-JM engine. This agreement and associated work builds upon SKF’s successful support of other Pratt & Whitney engine programs.
Stephane Le-Mounier, director, SKF Aerospace says, “We are extremely pleased to have been selected for this major engine program and that Pratt & Whitney has confidence in SKF’s technical and manufacturing capabilities. We have created a special commercial, manufacturing, and application engineering team to address Pratt & Whitney’s requirements, which includes a complete rethinking of the way we will manufacture these aero engine bearings.”
SKF will manufacture the main shaft bearings at their aerospace factory in Falconer, N.Y.
