Boeing Co. and leasing company BOC Aviation announced plans to lease eight 777-300ER planes to Thai Airways International.
BOC's core business is buying planes from manufacturers, such as Boeing, and leasing them to airlines. Boeing and BOC said the average list price for the planes is $2.2 billion. The companies didn't say what BOC paid.
Thai Airways said it chose the 777-300ER model because it believes the plane's reliability will make long-haul routes more profitable. Thai Airways says it hopes to expand into new European markets, in particular.
