Paris – Turkish Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding for Pratt & Whitney's PurePower PW1100G-JM engines to power its order of 72 firm and 20 option A321neo aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2017. The PurePower engine family has completed 19,000 hours and 34,000 cycles of full engine testing, including 5,000 hours of flight time.
Since it began operations in 1933, Turkish Airlines' fleet has grown to over 280 aircraft (passenger and cargo). Turkish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, has the youngest fleet in Europe and continues to invest in new aircraft. Turkish Airlines operates scheduled flights to a total of 277 destinations – 227 international and 50 domestic. Skytrax named Turkish Airlines as the "Best Airline in Europe" in 2014 for the fourth year running and the "Best Airline in Southern Europe" for the sixth year running.
